Our customers are the most important part of our work and their satisfaction is what we thrive on. We will assess your project and explain what is involved, as well as identify potential problems and provide solutions. If your project requires design services, we will advise you on the most suitable approach. We understand the technical aspects of construction in detail and know how ‘houses work’. Our team has extensive knowledge and experience with the latest products and materials and offer you the best solution for your project and budget.
A general contractor is responsible for the entire project. Instead of having several contractors and consultants, an owner has just one entity to deal with. A general contractor will provide all of the materials, labor, equipment, vehicles, tools, engineering and all services necessary for the construction of the project. In order to get the project completed on time and on budget, the general contractor may hire more specialized sub-contractors to perform portions of the work like electrical, plumbing and heating systems or all of the construction work depending on schedule.
Design-build focuses on combining the design, permit, and construction schedules in order to streamline the project. This system is used to minimize the project risk for an owner and to reduce the delivery schedule by overlapping the design phase and construction phase of a project. Where the design-builder is the contractor, the design professionals are typically retained directly by the contractor. Design revisions, project feedback, budgeting, permitting, construction issues, change orders, and billing can all be routed through the design-build firm. This single point of contact allows a certain degree of flexibility for the owner.
Depending on the size of a project, responsibilities may include: Filing for building permits, Securing the property, Providing temporary utilities on site, Managing personnel on site, Providing site surveying and engineering, Disposing/Recycling of construction waste, Monitoring schedules and cash flows, Maintaining accurate records of construction progress.
A Handyman is a person skilled at a wide range of repairs, typically around the home. These tasks include trade skills, repair work, maintenance work, both interior and exterior, and are sometimes described as “odd jobs” or “fix-up tasks”, and include light plumbing jobs such as fixing a leaky toilet or light electrical jobs such as changing a light fixture.

The most popular method of residential construction in the Kootenay region is wood framed construction. As efficiency codes and green building practices have come into effect in recent years, new construction technologies and methods have emerged. K2 Contracting is on the cutting edge of the newest methods of construction intended to improve efficiency, performance and reduce construction waste.
Owners of these projects are usually large, for-profit, industrial corporations. Processes in these industries require highly specialized expertise in planning, design, and construction. As in residential building construction, this type of construction requires a team of skilled individuals to ensure a successful project; K2 Contracting Ltd. is this team.
MULTI FAMILY DWELLING
Duplex or Semi-Detached is one building consisting of two separate “houses”, typically side by side, each with separate entrances and typically without common inside areas. Each of the two houses typically has separate owners.
Townhouse – a house attached to any number of other townhouses each of which may have multiple floors, commonly side by side each with their own separate entrances. Each such house has its own owner.
Apartment Buildings – Apartment buildings can range in many sizes, some with only a few apartments, others with hundreds of apartments on many floors, or any size in between. There are often inside hallways and inside entrances to each apartment, but outside entrances to each apartment are also possible. An apartment building can be owned by an individual and each of the apartments rented to “tenants” or each of the apartments can be owned by separate parties like a condominium.
Renovating is the process of improving a structure; everyone has a different reason for wanting to renovate. Sometimes it’s the simple need for a change. Do you need more room for the growing family? Do you hate your kitchen? Is your basement depressing? Or do you just have to have that kick-ass steam shower with the 14 adjustable heads? Other times, the motivation is more practical. If you wake up one day with a puddle in the basement or a water-stained ceiling, you know you have to act fast. No matter what the reason, a number of factors need to be weighed when making a decision to renovate.
The value of any renovation is in the eye of the beholder, but also in prospective buyers. Make a list of what your primary goals are for thE renovation and your “must haves”. Evaluate similar type homes in your neighbourhood, and if after completing your renovation; will your home still be priced in the market for your area? Location is also very important, it may be wise to renovate given the location of your home (premium lot, picturesque view, lakefront, accessibility, etc). Our homes are an important part of all our lives. Any renovation should provide a return on investment; you just need to weigh these factors to see if renovating is right for you, your family and your home. A successful renovation can be a dream comes true, but without careful planning and management, it can be a nightmare. Let us help, call us for some estimates, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Wheelchair ramps – are an inclined plane installed in addition to or instead of stairs. Ramps permit wheelchair users, as well as people pushing strollers, carts or other wheeled objects to more easily access a building. A wheelchair ramp can be permanent, semi-permanent or portable. Permanent ramps are designed to be bolted or cemented in place. Semi-permanent ramps rest on top of the ground or cement pad and are commonly used for the short term. Ramps must be carefully designed in order to be useful. Many jurisdictions have established minimum widths and maximum slopes. A less steep rise can be easier for a wheelchair user to navigate, as well as safer in icy climates.
