DESIGN BUILD

Design-build focuses on combining the design, permit, and construction schedules in order to streamline the project. This system is used to minimize the project risk for an owner and to reduce the delivery schedule by overlapping the design phase and construction phase of a project. Where the design-builder is the contractor, the design professionals are typically retained directly by the contractor. Design revisions, project feedback, budgeting, permitting, construction issues, change orders, and billing can all be routed through the design-build firm. This single point of contact allows a certain degree of flexibility for the owner.

HANDYMAN SERVICES

A Handyman is a person skilled at a wide range of repairs, typically around the home. These tasks include trade skills, repair work, maintenance work, both interior and exterior, and are sometimes described as “odd jobs” or “fix-up tasks”, and include light plumbing jobs such as fixing a leaky toilet or light electrical jobs such as changing a light fixture.

RESIDENTIAL

The most popular method of residential construction in the Kootenay region is wood framed construction. As efficiency codes and green building practices have come into effect in recent years, new construction technologies and methods have emerged. K2 Contracting is on the cutting edge of the newest methods of construction intended to improve efficiency, performance and reduce construction waste.

MULTI FAMILY DWELLING

Duplex or Semi-Detached is one building consisting of two separate “houses”, typically side by side, each with separate entrances and typically without common inside areas. Each of the two houses typically has separate owners.

Townhouse – a house attached to any number of other townhouses each of which may have multiple floors, commonly side by side each with their own separate entrances. Each such house has its own owner.

Apartment Buildings – Apartment buildings can range in many sizes, some with only a few apartments, others with hundreds of apartments on many floors, or any size in between. There are often inside hallways and inside entrances to each apartment, but outside entrances to each apartment are also possible. An apartment building can be owned by an individual and each of the apartments rented to “tenants” or each of the apartments can be owned by separate parties like a condominium.

EXTERIOR

Wheelchair ramps – are an inclined plane installed in addition to or instead of stairs. Ramps permit wheelchair users, as well as people pushing strollers, carts or other wheeled objects to more easily access a building. A wheelchair ramp can be permanent, semi-permanent or portable. Permanent ramps are designed to be bolted or cemented in place. Semi-permanent ramps rest on top of the ground or cement pad and are commonly used for the short term. Ramps must be carefully designed in order to be useful. Many jurisdictions have established minimum widths and maximum slopes. A less steep rise can be easier for a wheelchair user to navigate, as well as safer in icy climates.

Siding and Soffit – Nothing will impact the appearance of your home more dramatically than the type of siding you choose. We  will install vinyl, composite, cement or wood siding in a variety of styles and profiles. Combine new fascia and ventilated soffit to complete the job and give your home that much needed curb appeal boost.

Rockwork – Install a little river rock or slate on the front of your home to add to the curb appeal, or let us create a new fireplace surround or feature wall in you home.
